CORNY "D&D" CARTOON FROM THE 1980'S

Everything you loved about "Dungeons & Dragons" growing up is NOT represented in this Saturday morning cartoon. It's the lame "kids teleported into the world of Dungeons & Dragons" concept, instead of showing the powerful characters kids enjoyed controlling in the fantasy world. They made the same mistake some 10 years later with the movie.

I find it hard to believe Gary Gygax had a hand in this thing... but then again, I still don't believe that Paul Reubens masturbates.

I have an investor. That is, I think I have an investor. Which means a slick looking "C&C" game might be on the way very soon. I've also had some interest in shooting the development/marketing of the game from a documentary crew. Hollywood here I come!

Things are marching forward like a throng of Viking Berzerkers on an icy battlefield! By the way, $25 bucks seems a bit steep for something without a close-up picture. Buyer beware!

If dogshit was ever reincarnated in human form, it's name would surely be Chuck Osborne. Here he does a lame "Daily Show-esque" segment where he tries to sell the whole devil worship/D&D relationship. The online version seems pretty cool though.

Interview with Gary Gygax

Okay, so Gary Gygax is a legend among RPGer's, and for good reason. He took the fantasy game as a concept and made it a money-making empire, and for that he must be saluted. It's too bad he got sucked into the world of children's animation in the 1980's... it really watered down his godlike status.

At any rate, here's a pretty informative interview about his D&D past.

For those of you wondering, it looks like "Caverns" will not be ready for the So-Cal "Gen-Con" in November 2006. It's not an issue of gameplay, as much as an issue of mass marketing. My investor refuses to let the game manuals, caverns, and other imortant documents be seen by the public until our game is "properly packaged" (his words) and ready for sale.

Good things are worth waiting for though, right? And we could possibly be ready for the European Gen-Con in May 2007... but I'd be killed by my WWII enthusiast friends for letting the French get the first look at a completed "C&C" game.

Stephen Colbert comes clean

Stephen Colbert, one of our most famous RPG brethren, comes clean to Conan O'Brien. Not about his D&D past (that is well-known) but about an on-air Middle-Earth mistake. Don't feel bad Stephen, I once claimed that it was Meneldur (not Meneldor) who aided Gwaihir in rescuing Sam and Frodo after they destroyed the Ring. As we all know, Meneldur was actually a king of Numenor. Stuart still won't let me live this one down.

Remember the rash of kids committing suicide because they couldn't distinguish reality from fantasy? Me neither. It's pretty good artwork though... I must admit.
